Release Engineer

Job Description

Composite Software is looking for a motivated Release Engineer to take responsibility the all aspects of release, installation, automated patch production, and related infrastructure for the Composite Information Server (CIS). This individual will also be responsible for supporting the automated build-and-test process, including performing some system administrative tasks for build and test machines.  CIS is a multi-threaded, Java-based server that non-invasively, accesses existing data from disparate sources, then, combines, abstracts and simplifies the complex data, and delivers it via Web services or relational views.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

 

• Design and execution of branching strategies in subversion
• Manage code obfuscation and distribution
• Ensure release candidates are correctly composed and labeled
• Maintain and enhance the installer, launcher and patch mechanisms
• Coordinate with support and doc to define release and patch contents
• Install OS, DB, and application software to QA (and related) machines
• Replicate customer version combinations for support calls

 

Required Skills

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of Subversion, including administration
• Transferrable knowledge of similar systems considered
• Fluency in scripting, including perl and .sh
• Familiarity with Java, especially JVM options
• Systematic, detail-oriented review of potential compatibility issues
• 3+ years experience in release preferred
